Operating in Lebanon, where unemployment rates are high, the organization supports women in accessing traditional jobs in construction, fostering financial independence and self-confidence. Warchée establish partnerships with construction companies to facilitate recruitment of qualified female candidates and provide knowledge and learning opportunities in sought-after construction techniques. Warchée also supports builders, architects, engineers, landscape architects, and urban planners by facilitating their access to projects and surrounding them with well-trained female teams.

Job Summary

Warchée organization is currently seeking to recruit a Senior Finance and Accounting Officer to join their team. This integral role involves overseeing and managing the financial operations of the organization: the Finance and Accounting Officer will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of the organization. Her/His primary role will involve maintaining accurate financial records, managing transactions, and ensuring compliance with regulations and policies. She/He will analyze financial data to identify variances, prepare budgets, and forecast financial outcomes. Collaboration with various departments will be crucial as she/he gathers information, communicates financial insights, and supports decision-making processes. Additionally, she/he will help improve the organization's cash flow, make financial processes more efficient, and strengthen internal controls. With his knowledge and carefulness, she/he will greatly contribute to the overall financial well-being and success of the organization.

Main Tasks and Duties:

  • Financial Recordkeeping: Accurately maintaining financial records by recording all financial transactions, including income, expenses, grants, and donations. This includes maintaining ledgers and journal vouchers.
  • Procurements: Managing the procurement process, including vendor selection, negotiation of contracts, and ensuring timely and accurate processing of purchase orders with the department in line.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assisting in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts for Warchée. Monitoring actual expenses against budgeted amounts and providing regular reports on budget performance.
  • Payments: Overseeing payment procedures, such as verifying invoices, processing payments, and maintaining proper documentation.
  • Archiving: Ensuring proper archiving and record keeping of financial documents, such as invoices, receipts, contracts, and other important financial records, in accordance with regulatory and company policies.
  • Financial Reporting: Preparing financial statements, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in accordance with relevant accounting standards. Ensuring timely and accurate reporting to internal management, and donors.
  • Grant and Fund Management: Overseeing the financial aspects of grants and funds received by the NGO. This includes ensuring compliance with grant terms, tracking expenses, preparing financial reports for donors, and managing budget revisions when necessary.
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitoring cash flow, preparing cash flow forecasts, and ensuring sufficient funds are available for operational needs. Managing bank accounts, including reconciliations, deposits, and withdrawals.
  • Compliance and Audit: Ensuring compliance with financial regulations, donor requirements, and internal policies. Facilitating internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations, and implementing audit recommendations.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyzing financial data and providing insights to support strategic decision-making. Identifying financial risks, and opportunities, and making recommendations to improve financial performance and efficiency.
  • Payroll and Benefits Administration: Managing employee payroll, including processing salaries, benefits, and statutory deductions. Ensuring compliance with labor laws, tax regulations, and other requirements.
  • Internal Controls: Establishing and maintaining effective financial controls to safeguard the Warchée’s assets and ensure accurate financial reporting. Implementing policies and procedures to prevent errors, and misappropriation of funds.
  • Internal Communication: Collaborating with managers, project teams, and other stakeholders to provide financial guidance and support. Communicating financial information in a clear and understandable manner to non-financial staff.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in finance and accounting roles, preferably in NGOs.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and nonprofit financial management practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software preferably on Pims and Microsoft Office Programs mainly excel.
  • Familiarity with financial regulations, tax laws, and donor reporting requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English, French will be a plus.

Remuneration and Duration

  • Full Time Job : 5 days per week
  • Salary range : 1500 – 1700 USD
  • Duration: for one year renewable / Start Date : 27th of March 2024
