These activities include skills building trainings for beneficiaries on diverse topics based on the needs of the participants. The trainer/consultant is required to coordinate with the project manager to combine the needs with the training’s material.

Areas of Responsibility:

The Agricultural specialist is required to support the trainees in acquiring best practices and executing these in the field.

Job Responsibility:

The Agricultural engineer specialist is expected to deliver the following:

• Helping the trainees explore new ways of sustainable, safe, and environmentally friendly farming, by analyzing agricultural operations and looking at new technologies and ways of doing things to improve land use, increase yields, and conserve resources.
• Introducing the trainees to environmental impact assessments.
• Supporting the agricultural sector and farmers through delivery of agricultural inputs, technical trainings, and support in the development of production units.
• Advising on soil conservation measures.
• Providing support in defining, planning, and implementing activities related to Agriculture including needs assessments, beneficiaries targeting, technical SOPs, and evaluation in line with work plans, strategies, and methodologies.
• Advising farmers and trainees on planning and managing water conservation, irrigation and drainage systems.
• Providing technical support for all related issues like planing the heating, cooling, ventilation, post-harvest handling, logistics and more.
• Improving on ways to reduce crop loss from field damage during handling, sorting, packing and processing.
• Offering consultancy services to individuals.
• Contributing the identification of new needs and new areas of intervention and support the preparation and implementation of diagnostics/assessments related to Agriculture, local farming practices and livelihood.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

1. BA in related field.
2. Minimum of three years’ in relevant experience.
3. Problem-solving skills.
4. Interpersonal skills
5. Strong agricultural background.
6. Planning and organization skills.
7. A general interest in the agriculture and the desire to help make it better.
8. Must be able to use automation, precision, and smart or “intelligence” technologies with new and existing equipment.

Deliverables

The provider of services shall be responsible for the following deliverables.

• Training Syllabus and timetable
• Materials used throughout the workshop and training curriculum.
• Training logistics (attendance sheet, record keeping…).
• Total cost including number of hours and/or days + cost per hours and/or day.
• Appraisal by the end of the training with further recommendations.

Reporting

The Agricultural engineer specialist shall report to the project manager.
