INTRODUCTION
Kvinna till Kvinna is a non-profit organisation that provides support to women rights organisations and women human rights defenders in conflict-affected areas to promote gender equality and women’s participation in all levels of decision making. Kvinna till Kvinna has established operations in the MENA region since 2001 with a regional office in Amman, Jordan, and country offices in Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq and Tunisia. Kvinna till Kvinna currently supports some 50 women’s rights organizations in eight countries in the region with organizational, thematical and financial assistance.
Lebanon & Syria Programs at Kvinna till Kvinna are searching for a short-term, four-day, interpretation consultancy.
Details of the assignment Deliverables
Provide simultaneous interpretation from Arabic to English and English to Arabic for four online events (1.5 hours to 2 duration each)
PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
The overall purpose of this consultancy is to provide simultaneous interpretation for 1 and half hours to two hours in four different online events on
- July 27th, 2023
- August 10th 2023
- August 24th, 2023
- September 7th, 2023
Exact time to be communicated later with selected candidates. We are looking for two interpreters for each event.
Required qualifications
- Experience in simultaneous interpretation and use of online digital platforms such as Zoom
- Experience working with Non-governmental Organizations.
- Educational requirement: University degree or equivalent of relevance for the assignment.
- Convey ideas and messages heard only once in a second language instantly, accurately and completely, adhering to the style and intent of the speaker.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding any information learned during the interpreting sessions. The interpreter will be asked to sign a confidentiality contract.
- Ability to capture and convey geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural elements in speeches and can translate terms that are related to gender, feminism, international law and politics in both Arabic and English.
