Under the direct supervision of the PHC Social Worker, the community outreach worker will conduct outreach activities in Nabatiyeh governorate, deliver integrated sessions on health, nutrition and child development, conduct referrals, screen for acute malnutrition, and distribute micronutrient supplements at the community level and through Mother Baby Corners (MBCs).
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Organize and provide daily awareness sessions on Health, Nutrition and ECD at the community level, PHCC level and through Mother Baby Corners (MBCs).
- Distribute micronutrients supplements to children and PLWs at the community level
- Conduct community screening for acute malnutrition and follow up on referrals of identified cases to the malnutrition screening and treatment PHCs
- Identify vulnerable cases in need of support and conduct timely referrals as per IOCC’s procedures
- Link the community to the nearest PHCC and inform them of the services provided by the PHCCs
- Identify different channels to reach the most vulnerable beneficiaries with the necessary education and support and reach the target set by IOCC.
- Attend training sessions organized by IOCC as needed
- Submit daily and weekly report to the PHC Social Worker
- Attend IOCC-related staff meeting when required
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Self-motivated and initiative taker
- Organized
- Strong problem-solving skills and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions.
- Strong social, interpersonal and intercultural skills
- Team player
- Good capacity in writing reports
- Excellent communication skills and team building skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Willingness to use personal car and to frequently travel to the field and IOCC Office
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English
Education:
- B.Sc. in Public Health, Nursing, Nutrition/Dietetics or related field
Experience:
- 1-2 years of work experience
- Previous experience in NGO, and humanitarian field is an advantage.
- Previous experience in working with vulnerable populations is an advantage.
Working Conditions
- Will entail substantial traveling and visits to locations where beneficiaries are living (at the community level)
- It is preferable that candidate resides in the area of interest (Nabatiyeh, Marjeyoun) and that candidates can commute with his/her own car.
