CESVI is an Italian secular and independent humanitarian organization, founded in Bergamo (Italy) in 1985 and operative in Lebanon since 2001.From 2001 until 2011 CESVI focused its effort in the livelihoods sector. Since 2013 it has been responding to the spillover of the Syrian Crisis in the country through emergency interventions in favour of vulnerable refugee and Lebanese families.
CESVI is currently working in the Livelihood and Education Sector. CESVI is currently implementing the project “Education 4 Future” in Bourj Hammoud and Sin El Fil area. The project aims at improving participation in protected and inclusive educational pathways for boys and girls in Bourj Hammoud area, with a focus on the most vulnerable, therefore supporting national institutions in ensuring the right to education and well-being of all children, with and without disabilities (OG). The project will target 3 public schools located in Bourj Hammoud – Sin El Fil areas with minor rehabilitations, provision of equipment and furniture and support to the school population. Such support aims at improving retention and protection space and will be extended to out of education children and their parents, by improving awareness on the importance of education. CESVI foresees to implement an awareness campaign as part of the project, targeting both caregivers and children – the latter both in school and OOS/OOE.

Cesvi has a zero tolerance approach to any harm to, or exploitation of, a child or a vulnerable adult by any of our staff, related persons or partners. Cesvi commitment to being a safe organization begins with the staff recruitment process which includes meticulous checks, such as criminal records checks or check disclosure of previous convictions, to ensure

children and vulnerable people are safeguarded and abuse is prevented. Safeguarding checks are part of the selection process performance.

Requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science or relevant experience

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE and RELATED COMPENTENCES

  • Previous experience in Social Work, Education and/or Child Protection
  • Previous experience in working with children in similar activities, following safeguarding measures and applying child protection minimum standards.
  • Previous experience in cash assistance activities will be considered as an assets
  • Previous experience of work in diverse communities

OTHER SKILLS:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with data collection tools, including Kobo/ODK/ONA/survey123 or other relevant tools
  • In addition, applicants must be skilled in the use of Spreadsheets, Word processing, calendar, e-mail and data entry. They should also be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to establish positive relationships with people at all levels; to show sensitivity and integrity.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English.
  • Organizational Skills: Be able to develop and respect work plans, to manage time effectively, to meet deadlines and plan field visits.
  • Active Listening Skills: be able to listen carefully and make informed decisions, without giving false expectations.
  • Social consciousness: be socially aware of the socio-economic situation of their area and how it can affect their work.
  • Interpersonal Skills: be able to build positive relationships with potential participants and build trust.
  • Written and Verbal Communication Skills: be able to clearly articulate information.

Job Description Summary 

 

The social worker will support the implementation of education and child protection activities in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, specifically Bourj Hammoud and Sin el Fiel.  The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Scheduling, planning, overseeing and personally assisting the transportation service in Bourj Hammoud/Sin El Fil/Badawi area.
  • Ensuring the safety of the children and attending to their needs for the duration of the activities.
  • Ensuring that all children using the transportation services are always safe and have a seatbelt on.
  • Ensuring that caregivers pick-up their children, and any unattended child is not left alone at the pick-up points.
  • Follow-up with families and children, whenever there is repeated absence from attending activities.
  • Support in the implementation of Cash for Education activities, including: check of attendance sheets, fill of database, follow up with beneficiaries, follow up with financial service provider, preparation of supporting documents, and generate summarized reports for the final reporting.
  • Support in referrals of HHs to relevant services whenever necessary
  • Ensure that all activities are in line with CESVI’s child safeguarding principles
  • Record information as per guidelines received
  • Report high-risk incidents and/or challenging situations and bottlenecks to the education coordinator
