زخور لسلام: لا مبرر لرفض الزيادات على الأجور
في خطوة انتقدت بشدة، طالب المحامي أديب زخور، رئيس تجمع الحقوقيين للطعن وتعديل قانون الإيجارات، رئيس الحكومة نواف سلام بالاستماع إلى صرخة العائلات اللبنانية التي تواجه صعوبة كبيرة في تلبية احتياجاتها الأساسية. وقال زخور في بيان له إن معظم العائلات اللبنانية إما لا دخل ثابت لها أو لا يتقاضى أفرادها سوى الحد الأدنى للأجور الذي لا يتجاوز المئتي دولار أمريكي، وهو مبلغ غير كافٍ لتغطية الإيجارات المرتفعة، ناهيك عن احتياجات الطعام والطبابة.
إصرار على العدالة الاجتماعية
وأضاف زخور أن محاولة تبرير الرفض للزيادات على الأجور تحت مسمى الحفاظ على القطاعات الإنتاجية غير متوازن، مشيرًا إلى أن هذا الموقف يُحمّل الفئات الضعيفة وزر الأزمة الاقتصادية. وأكد أن هذه السياسات تؤدي إلى إرضاء أصحاب رؤوس الأموال على حساب حقوق الفقراء، مما يزيد من العبء على الطبقات الأكثر ضعفًا في المجتمع.
وتابع زخور أن من غير الممكن طمأنة الأغنياء على حساب الفقراء، فحقوق العمال والمواطنين لا يمكن منحها لهم على “القطّارة”. وحذر من أن الفقراء هم من يدفعون ثمن الإصلاحات الاقتصادية، وهم الذين يتحملون العبء الأكبر من الضرائب، في حين أن الحلول الحقيقية لمشاكلهم يجب أن تكون شاملة وعادلة.
ضرورة إعادة النظر في السياسات الحكومية
اختتم زخور بيانه بتأكيد ثقته في حكمة وعدالة رئيس الحكومة نواف سلام، داعيًا إياه لإعادة النظر في سياسة فرض الضرائب وزيادة الأجور بما يتناسب مع معدلات التضخم وغلاء المعيشة، حتى يتمكن المواطن اللبناني من العيش بكرامة في وطنه.
Zkhour to Salam: No Justification for Refusing Wage Increases
In a strong statement, lawyer Adeb Zkhour, head of the Lawyers Union for Contesting and Amending the Rent Law, urged Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to listen to the cry of Lebanese families who are struggling with basic living expenses. In his statement, Zkhour emphasized that most Lebanese families either have no stable income or earn the minimum wage, which does not exceed two hundred U.S. dollars. This amount is insufficient to cover rising rent costs, let alone food and healthcare needs.
A Call for Social Justice
Zkhour further argued that justifying the rejection of wage increases under the pretext of protecting productive sectors is unbalanced. He highlighted that this position shifts the burden of the crisis onto the most vulnerable groups in society. He also pointed out that the policies of reassuring the wealthy at the expense of the poor only exacerbate the suffering of the working class, which is increasingly unable to cope with the skyrocketing cost of living.
He emphasized that it is unacceptable to secure the well-being of the rich while undermining the rights of the poor. Workers’ and citizens’ rights should not be given in dribs and drabs, and the poor are always the ones paying the price of economic reforms, especially as they bear the brunt of increased taxes.
The Need for Government Policy Revisions
Zkhour concluded his statement by expressing his trust in the wisdom and fairness of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, urging him to reconsider the government’s policy on taxes and wage increases, ensuring that they align with inflation rates and the rising cost of living. He stressed the importance of allowing the Lebanese citizen to live with dignity in their own country.
