موظفو البلديات في لبنان يهدّدون بالإضراب العام بسبب انقطاع الرواتب والرعاية الصحية
بدأ تجمّع العاملين في بلديات لبنان واتحاداتها دعوة عاجلة لإضراب عام يشمل جميع موظفي البلديات والاتحادات ابتداءً من الاثنين 14 تموز/يوليو 2025 وحتى الجمعة 18 تموز/يوليو، وذلك استنكاراً لـ”تعنّت الدولة ونظرتها الدونية” تجاه ما وصفه البيان بأنهم “عصب الإدارات العامة في لبنان”.
ووفق البيان، يعاني العاملون اليوم من انقطاع كامل في الرواتب، وفقدان الخدمات الطبية والتغطية الصحية والاستشفائية، إضافة إلى غياب “منح تعليم” ونظام تقاعد يضمن لهم حياة كريمة بعد التقاعد، مما دفع قسماً كبيراً منهم إلى ما دون خط الفقر.
وأضاف البيان: “ندعو للالتزام التام بالإضراب والبقاء على أهبة الاستعداد لأي قرار يصدر”، مؤكّداً أن هذه الخطوة تمثل “رداً أولياً” على ما اعتُبر تجاوباً سلبيًا من قبل الدولة إزاء مطالب الموظفين الشرعية.
إعلان الإضراب يحمل في طياته رسالة واضحة للحكومة والمجتمع: موظفو البلديات باتوا طوق النجاة للإدارة العامة بعجزهم أمام البؤس المالي والاجتماعي، ويصطفون اليوم في مواجهة إجراءات تقشفية غير مدروسة، تفاقم أزماتهم المتفاقمة منذ السنوات الأخيرة.
Lebanon Municipal Workers Threaten Nationwide Strike Over Unpaid Salaries & Health Benefits
The Lebanese Municipal Workers’ Union has issued an urgent call for a full-fledged strike affecting all municipal staff and union members across Lebanon, starting Monday, July 14, 2025, and continuing through Friday, July 18, 2025. The strike is being launched in protest of the “state's intransigence and dismissive attitude” toward a workforce that represents the backbone of Lebanon’s public administration.
According to the statement, affected employees are currently suffering from a complete cessation of salaries, loss of medical and health insurance, no educational grants, and the absence of a retirement system that would ensure dignity in old age—resulting in a significant number of municipal staff living below the poverty line.
The union emphasized: “We urge full commitment to the strike and remain on standby for any further action.” This initial strike is characterized as a direct response to the government’s inadequate engagement with legitimate employee demands.
Through this decision, municipal workers are sending a strong message to both the government and citizens: They are the lifeline of public administration but have been left powerless in the face of a deepening socio-economic crisis and short-sighted austerity measures.
