أعلنت السلطات الأمنية في مطار رفيق الحريري الدولي عن توقيف رجل الأعمال رامي عليق قبيل سفره إلى الخارج، وذلك بعد قرابة شهر ونصف من تمنعه عن حضور جلسات الاستجواب في دعوى قضائية رفعها ضده رجل الأعمال جهاد العرب.
وترجع خلفية التوقيف إلى شكوى قانونية قدمها المحامي مارك حبقة، الوكيل القانوني للعرب، ضد عليق بتهمة تزوير بيان منسوب زورًا إلى وزارة الخزانة الأميركية. وقد دفعت هذه الاتهامات الجهات القضائية إلى إصدار بلاغ بحث وتحرٍّ بحقه بعد تخلفه المتكرر عن المثول أمام الأجهزة الأمنية.
وكان عليق قد تذرع بمبررات صحية وأسباب أخرى لمنع نفسه من حضور جلسات التحقيق، لكن تنفيذ بلاغ البحث والتحري تم فور وصوله إلى المطار، حيث تم توقيفه مباشرة.
