In the next months, AND will be operating a community kitchen and will need the services of a chef with food safety background.

Responsibilities:

  • He/She is requested to have a regular presence at the kitchen and provide regular guidance and daily follow up on the women workers’ performance while preparing the meals, also providing a weekly menu/material list to include nutritionally balanced meals.
  • Overseeing the preparation of the daily meals, along with the packaging.
  • Designing and providing a training on food safety and hygiene measures, namely on basic food safety and nutrition standards including sessions on food safety and control, notions of personal hygiene, pest control, cleaning and disinfecting as well as safe handling and storage of food throughout the production lines.
  • He/She is responsible for introducing all food safety standards to the participants including food processing, packaging and distribution, while ensuring respect of these standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in food science, nutrition or any related degree.
  • Minimum of 2 – 3 years' relevant experience in food safety expertise.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to engage with community members in an open manner, maintain confidentiality and respect.
  • Positive and professional attitude, able to organize.
  • Works well in a team, flexible, and able to handle pressure well and able to move in the field.
  • Computer literacy preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and analysis competencies.

Deliverables

The provider of services shall be responsible to deliver the following:

  • Materials used throughout the workshop and training curriculum.
  • Materials used to prepare the meals.

Reporting

The Food safety specialist/Chef shall report to the project manager.
